Capital and Interest – With this type of mortgage, you are paying both the interest charged each month together with a capital repayment, so that at the end of the mortgage term, you will have fully repaid the mortgage. In the initial years, the majority of your monthly payments go towards paying the interest payments, but as the loan gradually reduces, more of the capital is repaid.
