Discounted rate – This type of mortgage will attract a discount off the lenders standard variable rate for a period of time. Sometimes only a few months, up to several years. As they are discounted they will be a better rate than the standard rate, but this might not be for a very long period. Interest rates can still increase and decrease in line with the lenders standard variable rate.
