Interest Only – With this type of mortgage, you are only paying the interest charged each month, you are not repaying any of the capital back. You will continue to owe the same amount and at the end of the mortgage, the capital has to be repaid. This could be repaid by an investment, an inheritance or the sale of the property. You will pay more interest than a “capital and interest” mortgage, as the loan is not reducing over the term.
